Marigold

There’s something about marigolds which is traditional yet cosmopolitan…

Judging by the ubiquitous nature in which these flowers adorn temples and idols in the form of garlands, in prayer baskets, in prayer plates et cetera one would think they are native to India, however the genus is native to south of Mexico and according to historical research, the Portuguese brought marigolds to India.

Now isn’t that really the absorption of Western Culture in true letter and spirit!
